Ibrahima Sory Soumah

Chief Risk Officer, Risk Legal and Compliance

Ibrahima Sory Soumah is ITFC’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO). In this capacity, he ensures that all areas of risk (Credit, Market, Operational, etc.) are suitably addressed and risk management culture is well entrenched across the organization. 

Ibrahima was previously Resident Representative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC – member of the World Bank Group) in Guinea where he successfully led IFC team and implemented the IFC’s strategy and programs (investment and advisory services) across various sectors. Prior to that, he worked successively with:

- The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in various positions.
- IFC (World Bank Group) as Senior Investment Officer and Hub Leader - West African French-speaking countries (Global Financial Markets Department).
- The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) – IsDB Group as General Manager, Risk Management Department.

He is well-versed in developing risk management policies, assessing financial institutions, and dealing with complex policy, legal, financial, economic and technical issues pertaining to emerging markets, project finance, structured trade & commodity finance, and Islamic finance.

Ibrahima Sory Soumah is a holder of a (i) “Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies - DEA” (Masters Level) in International Economics & Development Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, (ii) a “Maitrîse” (Bachelor) and a “Licence” in Applied Economics (Major in Money & Banking) from the University of Paris 9 Dauphine and (iii) a “Diplôme d’Etudes Universitaires Générales - DEUG” (Associate Degree) in Applied Mathematics and Social Sciences from the University of Paris 7 Denis Diderot.
